Bert Ellard – Port McDonnell, S.A. – Farmer & Musican
INTERVIEW: Bert Ellard -1969
PLACE: Port McDonnell ,South Australia
NOTES:
Met Bert Ellard at Port McDonnell South Australia, where he spent his youth. He is an outstanding informant who gave me many dance tunes on the accordion and mouth organ. Now in his mid-eighties, he takes a critical attitude to his own performance. Apart from his tunes he sang one song. Son of a small farmer who used to do some boot-making on the side, he described life including entertainments, shearing sheds and bush work in the district.
